Social Change Project Wraps Up with Impact, Connection, and Generosity

Family Promise of the Chippewa Valley – Beacon House
From April 27 to May 3, we had the honor of welcoming an incredible group of students to Beacon House as part of a powerful Social Change Project — and what a week it was!
Throughout the week, these young change makers engaged in a variety of service and community-building activities that made a lasting impact on our shelter and the families we serve.
Their contributions included:
- Fundraising through creative efforts, including selling handmade eggrolls and organizing other activities — together, they raised over $1,300 to support Beacon House.
- Preparing and sharing meals with our guest families, creating warm and meaningful moments around the dinner table.
- Transforming our multipurpose room into a brighter, more welcoming space for families, staff, and community members.
- Donating books and thoughtfully creating a cozy reading corner and library nook for children and parents to relax, learn, and spend quality time together.
The project wrapped up on Saturday, May 3, but the spirit of generosity, compassion, and creativity these students brought will continue to be felt long after.
We are truly grateful for their energy, kindness, and commitment to creating positive change. Their work beautifully reflects the heart of our mission: offering shelter, support, and dignity to families experiencing homelessness.
To everyone who participated — thank you. Your efforts help make Beacon House not just a shelter, but a place of hope, healing, and community.
