About Us

Founded in Summit, New Jersey in 1988, Family Promise is a national organization that comprises more than 200 affiliates in 43 states that work together to transform the lives of families experiencing homelessness. What began as a local response to a problem in Union County, New Jersey has grown over the last 30 years into a national movement involving more than 200,000 volunteers nationwide who serve more than 125,000 people yearly. Today Family Promise is the leading national nonprofit addressing the issue of family homelessness. While we’ve grown, the core of what we do is still local – partnerships within a city or county changing lives for the better.

We are Family Promise

Annual Holiday Letter

For many of us, it is hard to imagine not having a place to call home. Our vision is a world where every child has a place to call home and an opportunity for a brighter future. While our generous donors and grants cover much of our costs, the demand for our services continues to grow and we have ended the last several years with a budget deficit. Learn more. »

March 25, 2024 – Altoona Elementary and Middle School for the win AGAIN!! FPCV sends a shout-out to the students at School District of Altoona for collecting stuffed toys for the children in our shelter. Every child that comes into our shelter gets a gift of some type. For our younger children it is typically a stuffed "creature" of some type. While not a huge gift, these go a long way towards helping the children feel more comfortable in their new home. Our shelves are full of stuffed animals right now. But we are always are looking for people willing to volunteer or to donate to help keep our doors open for families experiencing homelessness. Your donations of time or money stay local an benefit families right here in the Chippewa Valley. We'd love to have you help. To volunteer go to http://familypromisecv.org/get-involved to donate go to http://familypromisecv.org/donate Without you all we could do very little. We exist purely as a result of the generosity of the people of the Chippewa Valley.

March 25, 2024 – Family Promise wants to thank Eagles Club #2213 Chippewa Valley Fraternal order of Eagles for the donation they made this weekend. The Meat Raffle they did for us was great fun and raised a nice sum to assist us in our mission of helping families in the Chippewa Valley who are experiencing homelessness. It's organizations and business like this that keep our doors open and allow us to continue to serve the growing population of families experiencing homelessness. Without all of you holding us up with your financial donations, meals, and volunteering we could not continue to perform our mission. How can you become involved?? Call us at 715-834-4357, or go to http://familypromisecv.org/get-involved to volunteer or http://familypromisecv.org/donate to make a financial contribution to help us in our fight against homelessness. Thanks again, Eagles #2213. I had fun and you all did a great thing on Saturday.

March 22, 2024 – A big thank you to Five Star Plastics for their donation to our operations! It's the commitment of companies like 5 Star Plastics that allow us to continue to carry out our mission of providing shelter and support to families experiencing homelessness. Their donation will be used to provide case management, food, heat electricity ,and the support a family needs to get back on their feet and into their own place. Thank you again, 5 Star Plastics!! If you would like to become involved is supporting Family Promise of the Chippewa Valley/Beacon house you can call us at 715-834-4357 or go to http://familypromisecv.org/donate to give on line or get our address to mail a check. Our families count on all of you.

March 18, 2024 – Are you looking to put your talents to great use helping a charity that helps homeless families get back on their feet again? We are looking for a group or a couple of people who would be interested in helping us out. We moved a family out of our Transitional Home (YAY!! Exciting) and it's been a couple families since the interior was painted. It's a small three bedroom with one bath apartment and a small group could easily knock it out in less than a day. A couple could do it in a weekend. Your time volunteered would prevent us from paying someone several thousand dollars to paint the apartment. You would have a warm feeling and our eternal gratitude! We'll even provide the paint and all the equipment you need to do the painting. Minimal clean-up as we typically use disposable rollers and pads. The place is empty right now so you could do it on your time, but we would like to get it done soon so that we can lease the space again to another family that needs it. Please contact us at 715-834-4357 to get more specifics and to let us know you are willing to take this on. Thanks to all who support us in our efforts to end homelessness for families. Your support, either monetary or with your time allows us to focus our budget on the families we are serving. Thanks in advance to whomever can assist!!

March 14, 2024 – Thanks to Mila! What a great story, Mila chose to take a smaller gift to herself in order to donate money to Family Promise of the Chippewa Valley. Not very often you see a young person choosing to make this kind of a decision, but Mila made this decision from her heart. Of course, having her Mom on our Board of Trustees might keep us a little closer to Mila's heart. Thanks so much, Mila!! Your choice will affect the lives of the families in our Shelter and our Transitional House. We could not do what we do without people like Mila who chose to donate to Family Promise of the Chippewa Valley/Beacon House. You can donate by going to http://familypromisecv.org/donate and help end homelessness for a local family. Thanks everyone

March 14, 2024 – A huge thank you to Ashley @ashleyofficial for eight bed sets they donated through their Hope To Dreams program. These beds will be given to families as they move out of our shelter and transitional programs into their own place. This donation is not just mattresses, but foundation, sheets, and blankets., a complete bed!!! This is an amazing donation that Ashley provides for our families! Thanks again, Ashley. We could not do what we do if it weren't for great corporate partners like Ashley Furniture! Several families will be thanking Ashley as they sleep their first night in their new apartment!!

March 4, 2024 – Thank you Knights of Columbus John F Kennedy Council 1257 Eau Claire, WI for your donation!

March 1, 2024 – It's World Compliment Day! You all look amazing. Thanks for all that you do.

February 26, 2024 – Mark the date. Family Promise Giving Day is April 11 this year. Family Promise Giving Day is a 24-hour online campaign to raise awareness and funds to support families across America experiencing homelessness. This year, low-income families need our help more than ever. We’re asking friends to “Give an Hour” whether that’s an hour of time volunteering, an hour’s worth of salary as a donation, or an hour spent raising awareness about the crisis of family homelessness. Just one hour can create change that lasts a lifetime. Together, we can prevent children from experiencing the trauma of homelessness and keep them with their families, safe at home. Join us on April 11, 2024 in the fight against family homelessness. Watch our web page for details on how you can participate in this year's Family Promise Giving Day. http://familypromisecv.org/givingday
